<br />Population Age Distribution Trends
<br />Table 2 shows the age distribution of the Market Area population in 1990 and 2000, as well as
<br />projections for 2010. The 1990 and 2000 distributions are from the U.S. Census, while the pro-
<br />jections are made by Maxfield Research Inc. based on data from the State Demographer and
<br />Claritas Inc, a national demographics firm.
<br />The following are key trends about the age distribution of the Market Area's population:
<br />• With the aging of the baby boom generation, the greatest growth in the PMA over this dec-
<br />ade will be in the 45 to 64 age cohorts (53%), followed closely by older adults and the senior
<br />population (these older age cohorts make up 64% of the population growth in the PMA).
<br />This growth will continue to create demand for active adult and other senior housing prod-
<br />ucts into the culltli\g decades.
