Andrusko questioned if there were any unique features on the land that required the applicants to request a variance. Commissioner Brauer agreed stating Findings of Fact 14, 15 and 16 would be difficult to prove. He explained the plight was due to the applicants request and was not based on the land or any other extenuating circumstances. Commissioner Andrusko asked if the height request was common. Community Development Director Gladhill stated the City has received numerous accessory building heightrequests. Commissioner Andrusko believed that if numerous requests are being made that a perhaps an amendment to City Code should be made. He appreciated the applicant' s efforts and stated he would be willing to support a 2,400 square foot structure versus a 4,000 square foot structure. Commissioner Brauer inquired if there was another way to build the structure that would eliminate the height variance. Community Development Director Gladhill stated the Commission could direct staff to review the variance request further. He asked if the applicant was willing to work with staff to address the building height. Mr. Norquist understood the concerns of the Planning Commission. He did not believe the City's mean height was a true measure of the structure's mean height. He indicated he would be willing to work with staff on the request. He explained his garage would be 14 feet in height in order to accommodate his 12 foot RV. Community Development Director Gladhill recommended the variance portion of this request be postponed to the October Planning Commission meeting in order for the height issue to be addressed. Motion by Commissioner Andrusko, seconded by Cu 14.6;oner VanScoy, to table action on the variance directing staff to work with the applicant on the height requirements. Motion Carried. Commissioner Brauer stated he was getting more and more uncomfortable with overages and believed 800 feet was quite a bit over the City's requirements.
