Andrusko questioned if there were any unique features on the land that required the <br />applicants to request a variance. <br />Commissioner Brauer agreed stating Findings of Fact 14, 15 and 16 would be difficult to prove. <br />He explained the plight was due to the applicants request and was not based on the land or any <br />other extenuating circumstances. <br />Commissioner Andrusko asked if the height request was common. <br />Community Development Director Gladhill stated the City has received numerous accessory <br />building heightrequests. <br />Commissioner Andrusko believed that if numerous requests are being made that a perhaps an <br />amendment to City Code should be made. He appreciated the applicant' s efforts and stated he <br />would be willing to support a 2,400 square foot structure versus a 4,000 square foot structure. <br />Commissioner Brauer inquired if there was another way to build the structure that would eliminate <br />the height variance. <br />Community Development Director Gladhill stated the Commission could direct staff to review the <br />variance request further. He asked if the applicant was willing to work with staff to address the <br />building height. <br />Mr. Norquist understood the concerns of the Planning Commission. He did not believe the City's <br />mean height was a true measure of the structure's mean height. He indicated he would be willing <br />to work with staff on the request. He explained his garage would be 14 feet in height in order to <br />accommodate his 12 foot RV. <br />Community Development Director Gladhill recommended the variance portion of this request be <br />postponed to the October Planning Commission meeting in order for the height issue to be <br />addressed. <br />Motion by Commissioner Andrusko, seconded by Cu 14.6;oner VanScoy, to table action on the <br />variance directing staff to work with the applicant on the height requirements. <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chairperson Bauer, Commissioners Andrusko, VanScoy, <br />Brauer, and Nosan. Voting No: None. Absent: Cu.ii...lb,ioner Levine. <br />Commissioner Brauer stated he was getting more and more uncomfortable with overages and <br />believed 800 feet was quite a bit over the City's requirements. <br />Community Development Director Gladhill reported the applicant lived on a flat lot that was well <br />screened and staff believed the neighbors would not be overly iIllpa,LA.1 by the a..,.:5sui y <br />Commissioner Brauer appreciated staff's efforts in bringing the accessory structure down from <br />4,000 square feet to 2,400 square feet. <br />
