MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />This MEMORANDUM OF JNDEIi TANDING (MOU) ish ;rt by made and entered into by and between <br />the community of h C. rys,s 1241 (hereinafter "community„), the <br />tr , Snowmobile Club (hereinafter "club"), and the <br />Minnesota United Snowmobile's Association (hereinafter "association") <br />PURPOSE: The purpose ofthis MOU is for the parties to cooperatively work together to advance and <br />promote safe snowmobile access routes to services located within the community while criticising the <br />community as a `Snowmobile Friendly Community' to bereft its tourism development efforts. <br />I. STATEMENT OF MUTUAL BENEFIT AND INTERESTS: <br />A. The community hosts a variety of businesses which offer fuel, food, lodging, and/or repair <br />services required by snowrnobilers. <br />B. The club and association represent the organized snowmobiling public and work to foster safe <br />and dependable access routes for snowrnobilers. <br />C. Stnowmobiling provides important winter tourism that generates substantial economic impacts <br />through visitor spending and tax revenues. <br />In consideration of the above premises, the parties figas follows: <br />III THE COMMUNITY AGREES TO: <br />A. Provide safe and reliable access routes by snowmobile to designated community businesses <br />which can provide: #fuel, lodging, food, repairs and supplies for srrowmobilers <br />B. Promote itself as `snowmobile friendly' to aid snawmobilers with their trip planning <br />C. Provide trail maps or other informational material to aid snowwmobiler trip planning <br />D. Consider ordinances or policies that allow residents to travel by snowmobile from their homes on <br />designated plowed streets or roadways to either the outskirts of the community or to designated <br />snowmobile trail mutes <br />E. Consider ordinances or policies that allow snowmobiles to access businesses by either groomed <br />trails or other properly designated ovvr-snow routes including plowed streets or roadways <br />F. Manage Local snow removal efforts, to the extent feasible, to help prevent creating safety hazards <br />caused by snow removal operations unnecessarily depositing snow onto groomed snowmobile <br />trails and conic tirrg routes <br />G. Manage: local snow removal efforts, to the extent feasible:, to help prevent unnecessarily removing <br />all snow cover from designated connecting routes (streets and road shoulder) needed for <br />snowmobile access to key fuel, lodging and food services <br />H. Promote good road sharing etiquette and road crossing regulation for snowmobile -automobile; <br />interaction <br />I. Lave designated representatives meet with the club at least annually to help coordinate <br />snowmobile -friendly policies and to address snowmobile: management issues <br />III. THE CLUB AGREES TO: <br />A. Support th•e community in its efforts to be a Snowmobile Friendly Community <br />13, Promote the community as a Snowmobile Friendly Community on its website as well as in its <br />publications or other appropriate snowmobiling promotional materials <br />C. Support the community by helping to provide snowmobile safety information and training <br />11 <br />
