Meeting Date: 10/11/2016 By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative Services Information Title Adopt Resolution #16-10-198 Appointing Board and Commission Members Purpose/Background: The purpose of this case is to appoint new Board and Commission members to partial terms on the Park and Recreation Commission and the Planning Commission. While the City conducts annual Board and Commission interviews every March for terms that are set to expire on March 31st, periodically appointments will be made mid -year in order to fill any vacancies that have occurred as a result of unexpected resignations. Currently, the City has two vacant seats on the Park and Recreation Commission due to the resignation of Ms. Bridget Barr and Mr. Thomas Mobry and two vacant seats on the Planning Commission due to the resignation of Mr. Matthew Maul and Mr. Andrew Andrusko. The Mayor and Councilmembers conducted interviews on September 20, 2016 and selected the following candidates for the appointment to the City's Boards and Commissions: 1) Brandon Sis - Park and Recreation Commission - term ending March 31, 2019 2) Russell Bayer - Park and Recreation Commission - term ending March 31, 2017 3) Bruce Anderson - Planning Commission - term ending March 31, 2020 4) Patrick Surma - Planning Commission - term ending March 31, 2019 All Board and Commission members will begin their terms in November. Notification: At the time of the interviews on September 20, 2016, the City was aware of two resignations; one on the Park and Recreation Commission and one on the Planning Commission. Two additional resignations were received the week of October 3, and qualified candidates, based upon the most recent interviews, have been brought forward to fill those vacancies. Funding Source: Funding for the City's Boards and Commissions is included in the 2016 General Fund Budget; therefore, there are no additional budgetary implications are associated with making the recommended appointments. Recommendation: To make the following board and commission appointments, effective November 1, 2016. 1) Brandon Sis - Park and Recreation Commission - term ending March 31, 2019 2) Russell Bayer - Park and Recreation Commission - term ending March 31, 2017 3) Bruce Anderson - Planning Commission - term ending March 31, 2020 4) Patrick Surma - Planning Commission - term ending March 31, 2019 Action:
