Councilmember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #06-12-382 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING USE OF FORMER NAW SITE FOR YOUTH FIRST PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey purchased the former NAU site via RALF funds in preparation for the eventual re -construction of Hwy 10; and WHEREAS, portions of the former NAU building have been leased for business purposes; and WHEREAS, the south-eastern office space is currently not leased and would fit the need for Youth First programming for the Oak Terrace neighborhood and other Ramsey area youth; and WHEREAS, the use of this space for this purpose supports the work of Youth First by fulfilling the five promises of Youth First, which are: Caring Adults, Safe Places, A Health Start, Marketable Skills, and Opportunities to Serve; and WHEREAS, there is an economic development benefit of allowing the use of this space for this purpose, which includes the presence of activity at the site, increased marketability of neighboring office space, increased care and maintenance of the asset, and the collective effort of the city's business and civic partners in support of the program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes the use of the south-eastern office space at the former NAU building for Youth First programming through the end of August 2007. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Cook, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Elvig Councilmember Cook Councilmember Jeffrey Councilmember Olson Councilmember Pearson Councilmember Strommen and the following voted against the same: None
