Councilmember Olson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #07-08-191 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXTENSION OF USE OF 6701 HWY 10 NW FOR YOUTH FIRST PROGRAM FOR TWO ADDITIONAL YEARS WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey purchased the site at 6701 Highway 10 NW (former NAU site) via RALF funds in preparation for the eventual re -construction of Hwy 10; and and WHEREAS, portions of 6701 Highway 10 NW have been leased for business purposes; WHEREAS, the south-eastern office space is currently leased to Youth First programming for he Oak Terrace neighborhood and other Ramsey area youth; and WHEREAS, the use of this space for the purposes supports the work of Youth First by fulfilling the five promises of Youth First; which are: Caring Adults, Safe Places, A Health Start, Marketable skills, and Opportunities to Serve; and WHEREAS, there is an economic development benefit to allowing the use of this space for the purpose, which includes the presence of activity at the site, increased marketability of neighboring office space, increased care and maintenance of the asset, and the collective effort of the city's business and civic partners in support of the program. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes the extension of the use of the south-eastern office space at 6701 Highway 10 NW for Youth First programming through the end of August 2009. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Look, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Olson Councilmember Look Councilmember Dehen Councilmember Elvig Councilmember Jeffrey and the following voted against the same: None
