Ramsey, MN 55303 Re: Drainage Easement on Mr. Skeim's Lot 162nd Avenue and Zirconium Street Dear Council Members: As requested at your meeting of October 9, 1984, I have reviewed the installation of the dry well by Mr. Skeim on the above referenced lot. The dry well consisted of two eight-foot sections of reinforced concrete pipe buried on end. One pipe was 36 inches in diameter and the other was 30 inches in diameter. The pipes had two holes each for drainage purposes. According to Mr. Skeim, the area surrounding the pipes (8' x 14') was backfilled with drainfield rock. The casting on the inlet pipe was a curb type casting instead of a beehive. It was my understanding that if the dry well met City standards, that the City would reimburse Mr. Skeim $2,0~0.00 for installing the dry well provided he donated the easement to the City. Mr. Skeim's original offer to the City was to donate the easement provided that the City installed the dry well. Based on my inspection, the dry well was not installed according to. City standards. City standards call for two 72-inch manhole sections with one-inch holes provided in each square foot of wall area so water can seep into the surrounding drainfield rock. Also, City standards call for a beehive inlet casting which will not clog as easy as a standard curb inlet. The dry well installed by Mr. Skeim may function adequately provided it is maintained. It will, however, require more frequent maintenance to insure that the inlet is clean and that the four hol~ in the pipe have not silted shut. civil · municipal · planning · soils · land surveying
