I
I
!
I
i
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I
I

March 5 Quad City Rec. Board Meeting
Page Five

for their seventh grade football program. They use the Anoka Castle Field as
their home field for the soccer programs. Mr. Rouse commented that they do
have to rely very heavily on Anoka and Champlin to provide the facilities for
the RYAA Program. They do have a number of softball fields located at the
Dayton Elementary School which they do use very heavily, but are not in a
caliber of play the same as John Ward, Sunny Acres or Clyde Andrews Park.
Steve Schwarze from the AYAA then asked Ted from the RYAA that if Anoka was
to charge for the use of their fields if he thought it would benefit or hinder
the operation of the RYAA. Ted Rouse commented he believes they should be
supporting and paying for their participation in these programs, but he also
feels the majority of the people may not be interested in paying fees. Ted
Rouse also commented that they do have a problem in that a number of the
participants go to Elk River to play and participate in some of their pro-
grams.

Fritz Anderson from Community Schools then explained his function and how he
relates and works with the different communities and organizations. Mr.
Anderson is in charge of all adult athletic programs. He does the scheduling
for the youth programs and puts together all the information and publication
for the different associations. He does not do the youth scheduling of the
CDAA program, except for football and basketball. Fritz Anderson works with
any'community that does not have a director of organized recreation. He
stated that this year he did the scheduling for the hockey associations. He
said that once the registrations are done he works with the organizations to
establish the schedules of the playoffs and contacts the communities to re-
serve fields as necessary to provide for these organizations.

Steve Schwarze stated that he will get the information on the participation
numbers for Jim Schrantz in Andover. The next meeting is scheduled for April
9 at 7:30 P.M. at the City of Anoka. The primary item for this meeting is
that each member of the Board is asked to make a statement regarding the
costs associated for non-resident fees, whether or not they should be es-
tablished, or if not what alternatives can best help the entire recreation
program for the participants involved in this area.

Respectfully submitted,

Butch Brandenburg
Superintendent of Parks,
Recreation and Maintenance

cc: Jerry Dulgar
Mayor Hostetler
City Council
Park Board
Mark Lenz
Patricia Lindquist
Daniel Hartman
Carol Carlson
