Commissioner Troy asked if a discussion with the Nowthen Park Board would be appropriate <br /> and Mr. Riverblood stated that may be helpful. Commissioner Troy knows one member and will <br /> give him a call. <br /> Chair Bennett summarized a comprehensive review of all the parks may be a first step. Mr. <br /> Riverblood stated he would develop a draft matrix and perhaps the Commissioners would each <br /> take some parks and do the measurements and possibly revise the matrix. <br /> Chair Bennett stated he would be comfortable going to every park to evaluate and have other <br /> Commissioners attend for a total of 2-3 evaluations per park. Mr. Riverblood suggested photos <br /> be taken for documentation purposes. <br /> Commissioner Troy suggested doing it as a group in a large van and visit all the parks. Mr. <br /> Riverblood stated that would be a half-day session. <br /> Chair Bennett summarized Mr. Riverblood will work on a preliminary matrix and bring it to the <br /> October Park Commission meeting. <br /> 6. COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> Parks &Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood provided the following updates: <br /> Update on the final Phase of the Mississippi — The case has been submitted to the City Council <br /> for consideration. Construction could begin this fall with completion in 2017. The trail will be a <br /> great addition to the City. <br /> Comprehensive Plan — This will be discussed at Park Commission Meetings for the next 15 <br /> months. Chair Bennett stated he has not seen an update. <br /> Park and Recreation Commission presence at Happy Days — There will be a tent that will be <br /> staffed for information gathering from residents. Chair Bennett, Vice Chair Logan and <br /> Commissioner Fyten stated they will attend and man the table. Reminder — Commissioners <br /> should bring their nametags. Scratch off tickets for the farmer's market will be distributed by <br /> Commissioners present. <br /> Central Park— There is no update on the purchase of the property near Central Park. A temporary <br /> cul-de-sac is being looked at to resolve the parking issues. <br /> Commissioner Mobry asked if there would be a bike path along 161st. Mr. Riverblood stated the <br /> priority trails have been determined. A trail will be constructed east of the park. This is on <br /> Council's agenda for next month.
