She also appreciated the approach of Community Development Director Gladhill to
engage landlords and get them involved in the process, noting that in the past this has been a
contentious topic but tonight the lack of speakers at the public hearing is proof of the efforts staff
has made to involve people.
Councilmember LeTourneau agreed that this approach has worked to protect both the City and
the landlords.
Motion by Councilmember LeTourneau, seconded by Councilmember Riley, to introduce
Ordinance #16-09 amending the residential rental licensing program.
Motion carried. COUNCIL BUSINESS
7.01: Adoption of the Draft 2016-2018 Planning Commission Work Plan
Community Development Director Gladhill reviewed the staff report and recommendation from
the Planning Commission to approve the 2016 Planning Commission Work Plan.
Councilmember Riley stated that the Council has reviewed this before and believed the changes
that arose from the joint worksession were beneficial.
Councilmember Kuzma stated that he appreciates the work that the Planning Commission does.
Councilmember LeTourneau stated that the Work Plan includes a line which echoes the mission
of the City Council and believed that to be appropriate as not only does it mirror the work of the
Council but also shows how the groups are committed to the community. He noted that most of
the Boards and Commissions also have their own work plan. He commended the Commission
for putting the work in to identify items that the Council may not have seen.
City Council / October 11, 2016
