Councilmember Riley asked if perhaps good and excellent could be combined, since those are <br />similar results. It was noted that the figures are combined in the text. <br />Councilmember Williams stated that in the EDA meeting the previous week there was a <br />comment that the signage standards are making it difficult for commercial developers to be <br />comfortable with the level of visibility of signage from Highway 10. <br />Asst. City Administrator/Economic Development Manager Brama stated that the topic is not a <br />top priority right now but noted that if the Council desires, the item can be shifted towards the <br />top. He noted that the topic would fit with community development and the streetscape design. <br />City Administrator Ulrich noted that the multi -tenant sign would need to be addressed along with <br />signage to direct traffic from Highway 10. <br />Asst. City Administrator/Economic Development Manager Brama stated that his intent would be <br />to bring that item forward as a case through the EDA to cover a sign plan for The COR <br />development in conjunction with some other work. He stated that his timeline would be to have <br />the discussions over the winter and coming forward in the spring. He noted that the timeline <br />could be expedited if desired. <br />Councilmember Riley stated that he continues to hear comments that residential development is <br />filling up The COR and the belief that the housing is being subsidized. He noted that both of <br />those comments are untrue and perhaps an article should be written for the Ramsey Resident to <br />provide clarity to residents. <br />Mayor Strommen noted that the original plan for The COR included a large amount of <br />residential development along with business development but explained that all the development <br />cannot occur at once. She agreed that it would be helpful to continue to educate residents. <br />Councilmember Williams agreed that the rumor regarding subsidized housing needs to be <br />dispelled. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau agreed that the message needs to be spread over multiple platforms <br />and methods of communication, as perception can become reality. <br />City Administrator Ulrich agreed that a newsletter article can be drafted and staff can search out <br />different methods of communication. He stated that planning has begun for the tree lighting and <br />stated that staff is planning the event for November 29th with the event to be scheduled from 5:30 <br />to 7:00 p.m. to allow for a longer reception and perhaps renting a local Santa Claus. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau stated that he would support making the event incrementally better <br />each year. <br />City Administrator Ulrich referenced the recognition of an individual or group and stated that <br />staff is open to suggestions. <br />City Council Work Session / October 11, 2016 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
