The possibility of fire at the landfill
is reduced by daily cover and the use of earth materials. In the
unlikely event of fire, earth materials are stockpiled in active
areas in the event of its need for extinguishing fires and a site
water tank, bulldozer and scraper are available for immediate
response. Each piece of equipment, as well as buildings on the
site, will have fire control equipment and site personnel are
routinely provided instruction in firefighting procedures.
(June 25, 1984 Testimony of Henry Koch; Plans, Sections III.B and
J.)

Closure and Post-Closure Care. At such time as the
landfill is closed, Waste Management will continue an active
closure and post-closure program which includes routine inspec-
tions, maintenance, revegetation, if necessary, erosion control,
removal of leachate, and continued monitoring to assure that the
facility is performing as it should. (June 25, 1984 Testimony of
Henry Koch; Plans, Sections IX, XI and XII. County of Anoka
Solid Waste Ordinance 73-1, 82-1, 83-2 and 83-3, Section V,
subsections 5 and 6 provide comprehensive requirements for a 5
year closure and a 20 year post-closure period.)

17.
