All towns, all special taxing districts and cities under 5,000 population are exempted from this limitation. lhe calculation of your city's payable 1985 levy limitation is shown on the enclosed levy limitation notice titled, "Payable 1985 Levy Limitation Calculation for the City of". The amount of your city's payable 1985 overall levy limitation is shown on line l0 of the levy limitation notice. Also enclosed is the levy limitation Form 280 for taxes payable in 1985. The amount of your city's payable 1985 levy limitation has been entered on line 4. Other amounts have been entered in several of the special levy schedules where appropriate to assist you in completing the Form 280. Another enclosure is the Form 280 instructions for taxes payable in 1985. The underlined material in the instructions highlight the special levy changes or clarifications. If your city has a permanent levy limit base increase approved at an election held between October l, 1983 and September 30, 1984, please complete the following procedures: l) Add the amount of the authorized adjustment to line 7 of the levy limitation notice. 2) Recalculate each of the subsequent steps on the levy limitation notice. 3} Mail a copy of the revised levy limitation notice to our office. 4) Enter the revised payable 1985 levy limitation on line 4, page 1 of the Form 280.
