The use of lawn hoses is <br />permitted at all hours of the day, but in case of fire in any <br />area served by the water system, all lawn hoses must be shut off <br />and all other unnecessary use of water must be stopped. Whenever <br />the City shall determine that a shortage of water supply <br />threatens the City, it may, by published notice, limit the times <br />and hours during which water maybe used from the City water <br />system for lawn or garden sprinkling, irrigation, car washing, <br />swimming pools, air conditioning or other uses. Notice of a <br />violation of the published notice shall be mailed to the violator <br />and violation of the mailed notice is hereby prohibited. Any <br />water customer who shall cuase or permit water to be used in <br />violation of the provisions of said notice two days after its <br />mailing may have water service discontinued. <br /> <br />210.028 Meters. <br /> <br />1. The City shall exclusively own, control and supply the <br />water meters to be used in the City water system. The meter <br /> <br />may be removed or replaced or changed as to size and type <br />whenever deemed necessary. A meter change will be made to <br />each consumer connecting to the City water system after the <br />date the City acquired ownership of same, said charge to be <br />the actual cost of the meter to the City plus 15 percent to <br />cover the cost of handling. <br /> <br />2. The City shall keep an accurate record of each meter in <br />use, read all meters at the end of each quarter and calculate <br />the amount of water used by each consumer. <br /> <br />3. Ail commercial, industrial and institutional buildings <br />connected to the sanitary sewer system but not connected to <br />the City water system will have the sewer charges estimated <br />by the City or may, if the owner disagrees with the estimate, <br />purchase from the City and have installed, a water meter of <br />adequate size on the private fresh water supply system of a <br />building for the purpose of determining the amount of water <br />that is discharged into the sanitary sewer. <br /> <br />4. If any meters are damaged by freezing, hot water, etc., <br />either by carelessness or neglect of the owner or occupant of <br />the premises or their agents, the owners or occupants must <br />pay for the repair of such meters. The cost of ordinary <br />maintenance and repairs of all meters owned by the City shall <br />be borne by the City. <br /> <br />5. At the written request of any owner or consumer, the City <br />will test, or cause to be tested, the meter supplying the <br />premises of such owner or consumer. A deposit as set by the <br />Council will be required before the meter is disconnected, <br /> <br /> <br />
