HAAS <br />County Board al Commissioners <br />District #1 <br /> Mr. Lloyd Schnelle, Administrator <br /> City of Ramsey <br /> I $153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W. <br /> Anoka, MN 55303 <br /> <br />June 19, 1986 <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Schnelle: <br /> <br />Please find enclosed a copy of the Anoka County Solid Waste Abatement <br />Action Paper dated June 12, 198b,, which was u~animously approved by the <br />Anoka County Board of Commissioners at their mast recent meeting of <br />Tuesday, June 12, I <br /> <br />As indicated in the June 12 paper and supporting documents, the Anoka <br />County Board is firmly committed to solid wrote abatement in Anoka County <br />through the following actions: <br /> <br />Initiate and cooperate with local municipalities in the establishment of <br />various recycling and composting programs. <br /> <br />Pursuing mechanical/processing alternatives with the primary interest <br />in burning facilities of :200 to 400 tons per day. <br /> <br />Identifying and taking measures to restrict and reduce as much as <br />possible the flow of refuge which is generated outside of the County <br />from being disposed of in Anoka County. <br /> <br />The County will hire a professional Solid Waste Abatement Coordinator. <br /> <br />The County will secure intergovernmental assistance in working with <br />the State, Metropolitan Council, municipalities, business communities <br />and citizen groups to help accomplish our abatement goals. <br /> <br />The County will appoint a Solid Waste Abatement team of various <br />County departments which will serve a coordinating function for the <br />Solid Waste Abatement Coordinator and as a sounding board and advisor <br />to the County Board. <br /> <br />The County will appoint a Solid Waste Management Advisory <br />Committee by July I~ 1984 in accordance with State legislation to <br />assist in the preparation of the County Master Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
