I <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Reimann directing <br />City Staff to write a letter to Judge Sokolowski requesting that the charter <br />election in Ramsey be postponed until the time of the Primary Election. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Reimann stated that the letter should include <br />Council's reasons for requesting the election be delayed; that conducting a <br />special election just prior to a Primary election would be a duplication of costs. <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the motion should include that if the Judge refuses this <br />request, that plans should proceed for a May 22, 1984 election. <br /> <br />Motion failed. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Van Wagner and Reimann. Voting No: <br />Mayor'Gamec and Councilmembers Sorteberg and Schlueter. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg that a letter be <br />sent to Judge Sokolowski requesting that the charter election date be set for <br />the Primary Election; if this request does not meeting with the Judge's approval, <br />the City shall follow through with a May 22, 1984 charter election date. <br /> <br />Motion failed. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Councilmember Sorteberg. Voting No: <br />Councilmembers Reimann, Van Wagner and Schlueter. <br /> <br />I <br />! <br />! <br />! <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Schlueter and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to <br />authorize the City Administrator to accomplish the following in regards to the <br />City Charter: <br /> <br />~) <br /> <br />Publish the proposed City Charter on April 27, 1984 and May 4, 1984 <br />as required by State Statute in the City's official newspaper, the Anoka <br />County Union. _ <br /> <br />b) Authorize a special election for the proposed Charter to be held on <br /> May 22, 1984. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called to a roll call vote. <br /> <br />i <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schlueter: Aye <br />Councilmember Reimann: Naye <br />Mayor Gamec: Aye <br />Councilmember Van Wagner: Naye <br />Councilmember Sorteberg: Aye <br /> <br />Case #5: Landfill: <br /> <br />Council noted the landfill grounds inspection report for February 2 and 24, 1984. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that there possibly could be a special Council meeting set <br />for Friday, March 30, 1984 to review the landfill contracts. <br /> <br />i <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Case #6: Plans And S~ecifications For Public Works Equipment (Tractor, Chipper, <br /> Used Street Sweeper): <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Van Wagner to adopt <br />Resolution #84-44 approving plans and specifications for certain public works <br />equipment (tractor, chipper, used street sweeper) and setting date for bid <br />opening. (Please refer to resolution file for Resolution #84-44). <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Schlueter and Van Wagner.
