J~ <br /> CITY OF RAblSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY ', <br /> 8~TE OF MINNES(YI~ <br /> <br />~he Personnel Comtttee conducted a meeting on ~hursday, $anuary 9, 1986 at the <br />Ramsey Municipeul Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., P. amsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Councilmeut~r Al Sorteber9 <br /> Councilm~nber Gary Reimann <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator/City Attorney Willi~ Goodrich <br />Police ~hief Michael Auspos <br />City Engineer Peter Raatikka <br /> <br />Mr. Ooodrich called the meeting to order at 8:13 a.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />fY]MMI~R BLI~q T N F.q ~q <br /> <br />,Of Police Officer ~tmm Anderson; <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich reported that Officer Tom Anderson has sukmitted his resignation <br />from the Ramsey Police Department. <br /> <br />Police G~ief Auspos requested authorization fr~m the Personnel C~mmit~ to <br />take steps to replace Officer Anderson. <br /> <br />Personnel Committee authorized Police (hief. Auspos to proceed to replace <br />Officer Anderson. <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann stated that at the Deoember Council meeting Councilmember <br />Cox expressed concern with the mount of overtime logged by Police (~ief <br />Auspos; that he was under the impression that the hiring of an additional <br />officer would give 24 hour coverage and eliminate overtime. <br /> <br />Police G~ief Auspos stated that possibly Councilm~mber Cox misunderstood; there <br />is no way adding an 8-hour shift coverage would also eliminate overtime. Mr. <br />Auspos stated that shift coverage is still necessary in instances of illness, <br />vacation and court appearance as Ramsey does not have redundancy. ~ere is <br />only one officer for each 8 hours, except be~;een the hours of 6:30 p.m. and <br />3:00 a.m., ~ours which Mr. Auspos does not want an officer on duty alone. Mr. <br />Auspos presented figures which show that the cost of overtime would double if <br />the officers were covering the overtime rathe~than himself; in effect, Mr. <br />A~spos' covering the overtime has reduced the amount of increase in overtime <br /> <br />Page 1 Of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
