I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />:1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> ! <br /> ! <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />FROCEEDINGS OF PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> AN(FA (I~3NTY <br /> 8~%TE OF MINNESO~ <br /> <br />~he Personnel C(m~ittee conducted a meeting on ~hursday, January 9, 1986 at the <br />Ramsey Municip~l Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Councilmmber A1 Sorteberg <br /> Councilmmber Cary Reimann <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator/City Attorney Willi~ Goodrich <br />Police G~ief Michael Auspos <br />City Engineer Peter Raat~kka <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich called the meeting to order at 8:13 a.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich reported that Officer T~m Anderson has submitted his resignation <br />from the Ramsey Police Department. <br /> <br />Police G~ief Auspos requested authorization from the Personnel C~m~ittee to <br />take steps to replace Officer Anderson. <br /> <br />Personnel Cxm~ittee authorized Police ~hief Auspos to procccd to replace <br />Offioer Anderson. <br /> <br />For Po]~ee_ ~ef Ausm~? <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann stated that at the December Council meeting Councilmember <br />Cox expressed concern with the a~ount of overtime logged by Police (~ief <br />Auspos; that he was under the impression that the hiring of an additional <br />offioer would give 24 hour coverage and eliminate overtime. <br /> <br />Police ~hief Auspos stated that possibly Councilmember Cox misunderstood; there <br />is no way adding an 8-hour-shift coverage would also eliminate overtime. Mr. <br />Auspos stated that shift coverage is still necessary in instances of illness, <br />vacation and court appearance as Ramsey does not have redundancy. ~ere is <br />only one officer for each 8 hours, except between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and <br />3:00 a.m., hours which Mr. Auspos does not want an officer on duty alone. Mr. <br />Auspos presented figures which show that the cost of overtime would double if <br />the officers were covering the overt/me ratherthan himself; in effect, Mr. <br />Auspos' covering the overtime has reduced the ~mount of increase in overtime <br /> <br />Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
