I have
revised the ~mlployment agreement and have sent it to him for his com-
ment and review. He is to contact me by this January 14, 1986 meeting
with any questions he may have regarding the contents of the agree-
ment. One area of the agreeuent needs some clarification and that is
the health insurance provision. Currently, the City pays administra-
tive staff $140 per month for health insurance. However, that figure
has traditionally increased each year or every other year. I placed
in Mr. Hartley's contract $140 per month and if it is left at that, he
would receive the $140 throughout his entire three year term of the
contract. I'm not sure if the Council intended that or if you wanted
his health insurance to be that amount which we pay the ac~inistrative
staff and therefore, to change accordingly. Consequently, I would like
further Council discussion and clarification on that issue. Enclosure
(D2-j) contains a copy of the agreement as I have drafted it.

I
I
I

Mr. Hartley will be starting work here on February 1, 1986 which is a
Saturday. He plans on being in the office on that day and organizing
and bringing in his materials, etc. His wife has been here at least
once that I'm aware of and I believe will be coming back with Mr.
Hartley looking for a place to live. 91qey're attempting to locate in
Ramsey, however, they need to rent at this particular time and that so
far has been somewhat of a problem.

Cnunci] Action:

I
I
I
I
I

Your action will be to review and approve/modify the agreement and to
authorize the Mayor to sign the same. ~lqe following proposed motion
is hereby submitted for your consideration:

Motion by ~ and seconded by ~_ : ..... ~. to approve
the final written employment agreement with Mr. David Hartley and
to authorize the Mayor to sign the same on behalf of the City of

Further discussion:

Motion carried/failed.
