PROCEEDINGS OF PERSfI~NEL COMMITrEE <br /> CIT~ OF RAMSE¥ <br /> ANOKA ODUNTY <br /> S~]%TE OF MINNESCYI~ <br /> <br />~he Personnel Committee conducted a meeting on ~hursday, January 9, 1986 at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />M~bers Present: (buncilm~r A1 Sorteberg <br /> Oouncilmember Gary Reimann <br /> <br />Also Present: Acting City Administrator/City Attorney Willi~n Goodrich <br /> Police Chief Michael Auspos <br /> City Engineer Petez Raatikka <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich called the meeting ~o order at 8:13 a.m. <br /> <br />~'~I~I'I~EE BUS IlqEg8 <br /> <br /> ff~e #1: R~i~nation ,C~ Police Officer ~ Anderson: <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich reported that Officer T~m Anderson has su~itted his resignation <br />from the Ramsey Police Dep~rb~ent. <br /> <br /> Police Chief requested authorization from the Personnel Committee to <br /> Auspos <br /> take steps to replace Officer Anderson. <br /> <br /> Personnel Con~ittee authorized Police Chief Auspos to proceed to replace <br /> Officer .Anderson. <br /> ~ Dis~u~sion R~aardinp Ov~rtim For Police ~ief :Amqm~: <br /> <br /> Oouncilm6~ber Reimann stated that at the December Council meeting Councilm~mber <br /> Cox e~x~.ressed ooncern with the a~ount of overtime logged by Police Chief <br /> Auspos, that he was under the impression that the hiring of an additional <br /> officer would give 24 hour coverage and eliminate overtime. . <br /> Police Chief Auspos stated that possibly Councilm~mber COx misunderstood, there <br /> is no way adding an 8-hour shift coverage would also eliminate Overtime. Mr. <br /> Auspos stated that shift coverage is still necessary in instances of illness, <br /> vacation and court appearance as Ramsey does not have redundancy. ~here is <br /> o.~ny one officer for each 8 hours, except beb~een the hours of 6:30 p.m. and <br /> 3.00 a.m., hours which Mr. Auspos does not want an officer on duty alone. Mr. <br /> Auspos presented figures which sh~ that the cost of Overtime would double if <br /> the officers were oovering the Overtime ratheKthan himself; in effect, Mr. <br /> Auspos' covering the overtime has reduced the amount of increase in overtime <br /> <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
