<br />CITY NEWSLETTER:
<br />
<br />At the Council's last regular meeting, discussion was held regarding
<br />the status of the City newsletter and some information was provided on
<br />the anticipated cost. Since that time Staff has continued to investi-
<br />gate the cost, extent of Community School participation and methods of
<br />cc,~,~plyir, g with the Charter requirements for a newsletter.
<br />
<br />Before reviewing Staff's findings, it is proper to emphasize the need
<br />for the City newsletter. Without the newsletter we cannot proceed
<br />with 1988 sealcoating projects, the transfer of the Cable T.V. fran-
<br />chise or the adoptior, of any ordinances. With the newsletter, the
<br />City of Ramsey car, provide accurate and ti~ely i~formation and strive
<br />to project a favorable community image.
<br />
<br />Staff met with Mr. James Stewart, Community Education Director of
<br />Schonl District #11, regardir~g the school district's role with respect
<br />to Ra~sey's newsletter. A written reply was received from Mr. Stewart
<br />dated Februa~y 14, 198£. which states that the school district will
<br />c,z,r~tribote the use of the district's bulk mailing permit, allocate
<br />one-half of the cost of ~ailir, g the newsletter up tn a maxi~um of $400
<br />and submit materials to the City for consideration of being included
<br />ir~ the newsletter. This letter is contained i~ enclosure (D2-b).
