COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> Of[ice of Iht Counly Board o/Comrnissiontrs <br /> <br />COURTHOUSE ANOKA, MINNESOTA 55303 612-421-4760 <br /> <br />The Honorable Gary Heitmon <br />Mayor, City of Ramsey <br />16490 Uranium Street N.W. <br />Anoka, Minnesota .55:30:3 <br /> <br />February 12, 1986 <br /> <br />Dear Mayor Heitman: <br /> <br />I am writing to inform you that Anoka County has begun work towards <br />preparing an environmental impact statement (ELS) on the three proposed <br />sites in the County's landfill inventory. <br /> <br />Each metropolitan county was required by Minnesota Statutes Section <br />473.803 to adopt an inventory of proposed landfill sites which were <br />acceptable to the Metropolitan Council Three sites were ultimately selected <br />for the Anoka County landfill inventory: Site D, located in Oak .Grove <br />Township; Site P, located in the City of Ramsey; and Site Q, located in the <br />City of Andover and the City of Coon Rapids. <br /> <br />Anoka County is also required under Minnesota Statutes Section 473.833 to <br />prepare an ElS for the three proposed sites. The Metropolitan Council is to <br />finance the cost for preparing the ElS. Recently, the County was able to <br />reach agreement with the Council to fund the first phases of the ElS process, <br />preparation of an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) and the EIS <br />Scoping Document. The Scoping Document will describe items to be <br />examined in the more detailed ElS document. The proposed schedule for <br />preparation of the EAW and ElS Scoping Document is as follows (minor <br />modifications may be needed later): <br /> <br />Action <br /> <br />Approximate Dates <br /> <br />Collection of data, <br />preparation of draft <br />EAW, preparation of draft <br />conceptual design <br /> <br />February - early May <br /> <br />County Board considers <br />approval of Scoping EAW <br /> <br />May 13 <br /> <br />Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer <br /> <br /> <br />
