RZSC~UTION e86- <br /> <br />I~3BLIC POLICY RELATING TO STATE BUDGET ~3TS AFFECTING LOCAL GOVERNMENT AID <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, a Legislature in the State of Minnesota is considering <br />budget cuts which would be implemented in the event of short-falls and <br />revenues; and <br /> <br /> WBEREAS, local government aid is being considered along with all <br />other State expenditures; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey's allocation of local government a~d <br />in relationship to the allocation of local government aid to other <br />oo~unities is extremely low; and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, a reduction in the funding amount for local government <br />aid under the current formula would further the existing disparities within <br />the local goverr~ent aid allocation system. <br /> <br />NC~ ~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY HE CIT~ COUNCIL OF ~E CITY OF RAMSEY, <br />~ G0~NTY, S~1%~ OF MINNES~, aS followst <br /> <br /> 1) That the City of Ramsey opposes budget cuts which will in <br />effect further the existing disparities in the local government allocation <br />syst~. <br /> <br /> 2) ~hat the City of Ramsey does not oppose cuts in local government <br />aid provided that: <br /> <br />a) a Legislature recognizes that such cuts may increase <br /> the property tax burden; <br />b) cuts are made in such a way that all cities are treated <br /> equally. <br /> <br /> <br />
