I I ;I I i I '1 'i I I I I I i The deadline for grant applications for trail systems is May 30th. Monies usually come to the DNR by July ! and contracts are ready by Labor Day. Claudia Dodge asked if skl licenses would be required on Ramsay trails. Mr. Barber replied that if the trails were groomed and advertised as such and state monies were used to develop the tra~ls, participants would be required to purchase licenses. In conclusion, Mr. Barber said it ts best to start small and do a good Job developing trails to promote more use. Chairman Donovan suggested Ramsey start with River's Bend Park and concentrate on developing Cross Country Ski tra~ls rather than snowmobile trails. Mr. Barber agreed to come out in the spring and help walk out the trails. Case #3 - lee Rink Maintenance on Weekends 'Merle Mevissen, Public Works Supervisor, said the problems with weekend snows is that the streets and city lots must be attended to first and he doesn't have enough personnel to take care of the ice rink in addition to the streets on weekends. Chairman Donovan, asked if Merle would have any objections to asking the City Council to consider contracting the Job out. Me did not have any objections. Commissioner Looyen made a motion to go before the City Council with the contract proposal, seconded by Commissioner Rustad, motion carried. A motion was also made to recommend to the City Council that Carol Sather's salary for coordinating and supervising the Warming Mouse and ice rinks, be raised.
