I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br /> i <br /> <br />Counc t lmembe r <br />adoption: <br /> <br />introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br /> <br />1~~~ t86- <br /> <br /> WHERF2~, the continuation of the program for peacetime registration <br />for the Selective Service Syst~ contributes to national readiness by reducing <br />the time required for a full defense mobilization; a~d <br /> <br /> WHERF2%S, over one million United States citizens have sacrificed <br />their lives to protect the rights and freedoms of all Americans and <br />registration for Selective Service is an integral part of current preparedness <br />to preserve these rights and freedoms tn the future; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, more than 96 percent of potential registrants have <br />registered with the Selective Service System since the resumption of <br />registration and by so registering have enhanced the United States' national <br />defense preparedness; and <br /> <br /> WHERFAS, the Selective Service System has been tasked with assisting <br />in the process of improving our readiness by calling upon eighteen year old <br />male citizens to comply with the law by simply registering their name, address, <br />date of birth and social security nmber at the Post Office within thirty days <br />of their eighteenth birthday. <br /> <br />~ ~]tEREFORE, BE IT RES(I~VED BY ~I~E CITY GO[INCIL OF ~R CI~"~ OF RAMSEY, ANOKA <br />G~INTY, S~I%TE OF MINNES~, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) ~hat the City Council does hereby support continuation of <br />registration with Selective Service and does hereby declare April, 1986 as <br />"Registration Awareness Month". <br /> <br />~he motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Gouncilmember and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in <br />favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the sa~e: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey <br />City council this the 25th day of March, 1986. <br /> <br /> <br />
