Five areas in that development
will need reconstruction or an overlay. The other area requiring
other than minor repairs was the Hall Anderson Acres plat which had
three areas in need of reconstruction. The other project areas will
require only minor patching and crack filling.

Mr. Mevissen has estimated the cost of the repairs in the Riverwood
Hills unplatted area and the Hall Anderson acres plat to be $5,000.
The City's Public Works Department has started to make the repairs and
will complete the repairs prior to seal coating.

I have also reviewed the cost differential in using FA-2 (pea rock)
aggregate vs. FA-3 (crushed granite). The cost for using granite is
approximately 50 percent higher than the pea rock. The estimated life
of granite is 30 percent longer than pea rock. Therefore, based on a
cost to benefit ratio, I would not recommend the use of crushed
granite for a seal coat aggregate. In addition, the use of crushed
granite is intended for use in high volume traffic areas and main
highways.

civil · municipal · planning · soils · land survo'ing · landscape architecture
