necessary at the landfill site but the Co~nission does have the following ooncerns with respect to the vertical expansion p~oposed by Waste Management of Minnesota, Inc. at the site: 1. Water drainage and build up of held water. 2. Height increase eonflicting with existing airport airspace. 3. Numerous engineering problems yet to be addressed. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Greenberg, Co~nissioners Ippel, Hardin, Wagner, Vevea, Kurak and DeLuca. Voting No: None. Absent: Co,~missio~ers Muller and Fu]ts. ~, Motion by Commissioner l~ardin and secor~]ed by Co~mlissio~er DeLuca to reoommend that City Council investigate the possibility of forming another Landfill Committee to be made of one m~ber each frown City Council and all City Co~]ssions and two m~mbers of the private sector; this Landfill Co~ittee should have specific goals established ~y Council regarding issues dealing with the landfill. Further Discussion: Commissioner Kurak suggested that it be reco~m~ended that the Landfill C~,,i,ittee be given a budget and Staff ~r at it's disposal. Chairman Greenberg and Cc~wnissioner Ippel stated that Staff has always been available and cooperative with the EDC and Airport Co~a~issions. Con, nissioner DeLuca stated that the Landfill Committee should be in effect as long as the landfill is open and operating. Con~issioner Ippel stated that the Landfill Committee should be in effect permanently to address issues after site closing. Chairman Greenberg noted that the motion states that the Committee should be formed to address landfill issues in general and not just one issue which would imply a time limit. Motion carried. CDMMLq~q TON B[]~qTNF. qg C~e #1: Sub~tt~ a. ~.~]s]ative Sub~ittee - Con~issioner DeLuca stated that he has been in contact with Representative Hartinger concerning: 1) Unemplo~t oompensation insurance; 2) Co~m~ercial insurance; and 3) Co~m~ercial real estate taxes. Representative Hartinger is forwarding file regarding what the House of Representatives is p~oposing on these issues.
