CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT
MAY, 1986

Status of Subdivisions:

ae

Barthel's Rum River Acres 2nd Addition: A two-year exten-
sion on Phase II of this plat was granted at your
February 28, 1984 council meeting.

Northfork P.U.D.: Streets were paved on the first phase
early in May. Due to poor workmanship on the bituminous
berm, corrective action will be required. The total develop-
ment is currently in the E.I.S. process.

Rum River Hills: Final grading and seeding on the golf
course is presently taking place. Street work has not been
completed to date.

Sorteberg's Fourth Addition: Street paving is scheduled to
be completed the last week in May on this project.

Ze

Alpaca Estates Third Addition: Street work was resumed
on this project early this month.

Whispering Pine Estates Plat 5:
currently in progress.

Grading on this plat is

Extension of 153rd Avenue to Elk River: I met with Mr. Chuck
Weichselbaum, Mn/DOT State Aid Engineer on May 16, 1986 and he
recommended the City pursue connecting the extension of 153rd
Avenue to Highway 10 at west edge of the city. This would
require a new railroad crossing and crossing the Verndale
Commercial Park plat. I will submit a preliminary alignment of
this connection to Mn/DOT in the near future.

Extension of Dysprosium Street to Trunk Highway 47 & C.S.A.H. No. 5:
I met with Mn/DOT and Anoka County in regard to the preliminary
alternates which were included in your April council agenda.
Mn/DOT was opposed to alternate 5 and Anoka County was opposed to
alternates 1 and 4. Therefore, alternate 2 and 3 appear to be
the only viable alignments for the intersection of Dysprosium
Street with C.S.A.H. No. 5 and T.H. No. 47. I have completed a
topographic map of the area and will finalize the proposed
alignments and make cost estimates.

I will also submit a letter to Mn/DOT requesting State participa-
tion in the cost of the construction of the intersection.

Churchill Estates Site Improvements: M&S Development has failed
to enter into a developers agreement with the City. Therefore,
if the project proceeds in the future, new bids may have to be
obtained.
