6.01: Public Hearing to Introduce Ordinance #16-09 Amending the Residential Rental <br /> Licensing Program <br /> Presentation <br /> Community Development Director Gladhill reviewed the staff report and recommendation to <br /> adopt the Ordinance amending the Rental Licensing Program noting that details are included in <br /> the Ordinance and Fact Sheet that were included in the Council packet. He stated that the Planning <br /> Commission held a public hearing on October 6th and recommended approval as well. <br /> Public Hearing <br /> Mayor Strommen called the public hearing to order at 7:25 p.m. <br /> Citizen Input <br /> There was none. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Riley, seconded by Councilmember LeTourneau, to close the public <br /> hearing. <br /> Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers Riley, LeTourneau, Kuzma, <br /> and Williams. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmembers Johns and Shryock. <br /> The public hearing w losed at 7:25 p.m. <br /> Council Business <br /> Mayor Strommen appreciated the efforts of staff in order to make this pro-active rather than <br /> punitive. She also appreciated the approach of Community Development Director Gladhill to <br /> engage landlords and make them involved in the process, noting that in the past this has been a <br /> contentious topic but tonight the lack of speakers at the public hearing is proof of the efforts staff <br /> has made to involve people. <br /> Councilmember LeTournea greed that this approach has worked to protect both the City and the <br /> landlords. <br /> Motion by Councilmember LeTourneau, seconded by Councilmember Riley, to introduce <br /> Ordinance#16-09 amending the residential rental licensing program. <br /> Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers LeTourneau, Riley, Kuzma, <br /> and Williams. Voting No: None.
