Minutes CASE ~20: CO~TRACT FOR FIR~ pROTI~CTIOR ~ ~IERCEII~I SnVICES ~y: David Eartley, City I/ministrator Background: Earlier this year, the City of Ramsey and the Cities of Anoka and Champlin began discussing so~e of the possibilities of the City of Ramsey joining those two Cities in their fire protection effort. At that time, the City of Ramsey received its 1986 contract for fire protection and emergency services from the Anoka/Champlin Joint Fire Department. Since that time, Staff has delayed presenting this contract to the City Council, assuming that a joint powers agreement could be entered into by Ramsey and the Anoka/Champlin Joint Fire Department representing a joint ownership relationship. At this time, talks continue and it does not appear that Ramsey will be entering into such a joint powers agreement until after the first of the year. Therefore, it is appropriate that the City Council consider the contract for fire protection and emergency services with the Anoka/Champlin Joint Fire Depart~ent. Enclosed is the proposed fire contract for your information, Recommendation: It is my recommendation that the City Council favorably consider the contract for fire protection and emergency services with Anoka/Champlin Fire Department [or the calendar year o[ 1986 and authorize payment of $41,294,45 to the Anoka/ Champlin Fire Department. Council Action: Motion to: Authorize the Acting Mayor and City Administrator to enter into an agreement with the Anoka/Champlin Fire Department for fire protection and emergency services for calendar year 1986 and to authorize payment of $41,294.45.
