Fc.c 1 <br /> <br /> CONSIDER PROPOSAL FROM BKV GROUP FOR <br />CONTINUED DESIGN WORK ON CITY HALL/POLICE FACILITY <br />By: H¢idi A. Nelson, Asst. City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> In March of this year, City Council authorized Schematic Design and Visioning work for the <br />City Hall/Police Facility project. A Facility Committee was appointed, including three members of <br />Council and staff representativcs, to begin work on the schematic design of the building including <br />visioning for the aesthetics and uses of the facility. A community open house was held on Tuesday, <br />· th · · <br />June 29 regarding the project; the notice for the open house was publicized utilizing all of the city's <br />communication medimns. Staff anticipates the schematic design and visioning work wrapping up in <br />mid-late August, at such time, an update will be provided to Council regarding schematic design. The <br />next steps in the process would be to begin Design Development for the project. Staff has solicited a <br />proposal from the architectural and construction management firms for the project for the Design <br />Development phase; it is attached for Council review. Staff is proposing to utilize funds from the <br />Equipment Replacement Fund and the Facility Construction Fund for the Design Development work as <br />proposed. <br /> <br />Staff also anticipates additional expcnses for technology and audio-visual design consulting, the scope <br />of which will be defined in the next two weeks. Staff will be meeting with representatives from QCTV <br />and LOGIS to determine the scope of services they can provide and the scope services that will require <br />design consulting services. Staff will provide a report to Council when the scope of the consulting <br />work is more closely defined. StaFI~ proposes to utilize funds frorn the Equipment Revolving Fund <br />and/or QCTV equipment fired to cover the expenses of the technology/audio-visual consulting. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> Authorize staff to proceed with Design Development for City Hall and Police Department at a <br />cost not to exceed $822,000 and authorize the use of' fimds from the Equipment Replacement Fund and <br />un-allocated 2003 revenues. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> Approve Resolution No. 04-07- , Authorizing the proposal from BKV Group and 3D/I for <br />Desigu Development roi' City t lall and Police Facility at a cost not to exceed $822,000 and authorize <br />the use of funds from the Equipment Replacement Fund and the Facility Construction Fund. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />CC: 07/27/04 <br /> <br /> <br />
