Public Works Maintenance Worker fi~ll-time position starting July 19, 2004 at a starting wage of $16.03 per hour, plus benefits, contingent upon successful completion of criminal background and reference checks, a pre-employment physical, and a drug screen. Motion by Councihnembcr Cool<, seconded by Councilmember Pearson, to authorize Resolution #04-07-180 authorizing staff' to hi rc E. Andy Eccleston for the position of full-time Public Works Maintenance Worker starting July 19, 2004, at a starting wage of $16.03 per hour, plus benefits, contingent upon successful completion of criminal background and reference checks, a pre- employment physical, and a drug screen. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Pearson, Elvig, Strommen, and Zimmerlnan. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Kurak. Case #4: Report fi'om Finance Committee Councihnember Elvig reported the Fimmce Committee met earlier this evening and discussed the following cases: 1) Request for Authorization for a One Year Extension to the Residential Curbside Recycling Contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. Councihnember Elvig stated in January 2002, the City entered into a three year contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. for the curbside collection of residential recycling. He noted the contract included an option for a one-year extension and the current three year contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. is set to expire on December 31, 2004. He explained that state statute does not require the City to obtain competitive pr~posals since it is a contracted service. Councilmember Elvig stated that Ace is interested in extending the contract for an additional year at the rate of $1.88 per resident per month. He noted that Ace has been an integral part of the City's biannual recycling day events and Ace currently provides an annual donation to the City of approximately $2,000. The Finance Committee recommends approving a one-year extension on the current curbside recycling contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to approve a one- year extension on the current curbside recycling contract with Ace Solid Waste, Inc. Councihnembcr Zimmerman requested that City Staff notify residents of the Ace contract renewal via the website and/or the 14ctmxe), l~eside~t. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Zimmerman, Cook, Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Kurak. 2) Authorize Purchase of Tree Spade Councihnember Elvig stated the 2004 Capital Equipment Budget includes $40,000 for the purchase of a tree spade that would bc mounted to the existing front end loader.
