Motion by Councilmcmi)cr Ct)ok, s:con(tcd by Councilmember Zimmerman, to support the closure of these median crossings and to require Miff)eT to host an open house to present this to the public. Further discussion: Mayor Gamec stated it is important to obtain citizen input with respect to the median crossings and did not feel it is appropriate for the City Council to support closure of the median crossings prior to obtaining that input. Councihnember Cook withdrew lhe motion on the floor. Motion by Councihnc~!,:~' Zi~'~a~ac.,':,.'.:~, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to require MnDOT to host an open house to present thc proposed closure of Highway 10/169 median crossings between signals at: Tungsten Street, Feldspar Street, Llama Street, midway between Traprock Street and Armstrong Boulevard, the crossing west of Beatty Street, and the crossing at the west end of tile weigh station, in order to obtain citizen input. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Zinunerman, Cook, Elvig, Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Kurak. 8) Policy Rc.aardi:~ the Filling of Swimming Pools by City Staff Councilmember Zimmcmmn roi)erred that every year, the Ramsey Public Works and Ramsey Fire Depamnent receive requests fi'om residents asking if City Staff will fill their swimming pools. These requests are turned down for several reasons, including costs of equipment rental, scheduling, and the possibility of personal property damage. The Public Works Committee recommends approval of a policy stating that City Staff does not fill residential swimming pools. Motion by Councihnember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to approve the policy stating that City Staff docs not fill residential swimming pools. Motion carried. Case #6: Request for a Conditional Use Permit for an Oversized Accessory Building; Case of.lames and I)iane Feigum Community Developmct~t I)ircctor l:~'[~lil< stated the City has received an application from James and Diana Feigum for a conditional use permit to exceed the maximum allowable square footage for accessory buildings on properties between 1 and 1.99 acres as established in City Code on the City Council/July 13, 2004 Page 13 of 24
