Absent: <br />Commissioner Schmidt. <br /> <br />COMMISS ION BUS INESS <br /> <br />Q~ Sub¢o~ittee Re_p~r.ta: <br /> <br />a) Legislative - <br /> <br />Commissioner Muller stated that Ms. Norris is arranging a meeting between <br />Ramsey's EDC and legislators. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cox stated that there is a meeting on ~hursday, January 10, 1985 <br />at Greenhaven with local legislators. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg suggested that this Commission draft a letter outlining <br />Ramsey's ooncerns to be submitted to the legislators at this meeting at <br />GreeD_haven. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Cox and seconded by Commissioner Muller directing City <br />Planner Anne Norris to prepare a letter outlining the concerns of Ramsey's <br />Economic Develolm]ent Commission for Chairman Don Greenberg to suk~it to the <br />legislators at the January 10, 1985 meeting at Greenhaven. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Commission members requested that the subject letter <br />include this Commission's ooncern regarding real estate taxes in commercial <br />areas. Commissioner Cox stated it would be good for new members on Council <br />and Commissions to see a current breakdown of the tax structure as it relates <br />to residential versus commercial and facts and figures on what this community <br />pays in it's 16% commercial versus 84% residential. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: <br />Commissioner Schmidt. <br /> <br />b) Finance and Economic - <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults stated that Ms. Norris has been working very hard on the <br />City brochure. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults stated that area along Hwy. 47, across from the old town <br />hall, was zoned by Ramsey for high density (30 units/acre); that area now <br />falls under the jurisdiction of DNR's Wild and Scenic River Ordinance and is <br />restricted to 3 units/acre. Developers are requesting that this Commission <br />recommend that Council approach DNR about this problem. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cox stated that Council is meeting with DNR in the near future <br />and he will follow up on this density restriction problem at that time. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cox stated that it's another case of government running <br />government; non-elected persons are running our City at our expense and we <br />have nothing to say about it. <br /> <br />Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
