May 14, 1985 TO: Ramsey Planning and Zoning Co~ssion FROM: Planning Subcommittee of Economic Development Oo~ssion RE: Co~mercial and Industrial DeveloI~ent in the City The Planning Subcommittee of the Economic Development Commission met on Tuesday, May 14, 1985 to discuss the following issues. Members present were: Glen Hardin, Bill Miller, and Ken Wagner. ae Prioritize areas the EDC would like targeted for development. 1. The nunber one priority area to encourage development in is the southeast oorner of the industrial area (that area east of Sunfish Lake Boulevard and south of Industry Avenue ). 2. Subsequent development of industrial land should be en- couraged between Sunfish Lake Boulevard and Ramsey Boule- vard o 3. Development of the commercial/industrial areas along Highway 10. 4. Development of co~mercial/retail along Highway 47. Future utility needs in each area. 1. Sewer and water should be installed in southeast indus- trial area of City as soon as possible. 2. Municipal utilities should be extended along Industry Avenue to serve Industrial Park. 3. Municipal utilities should be available to those commercial and industrial properties along Highway 10 with the City's 1990 Urban Area. Possible tax increment financing districts. 1. Include 1990 Urban Area, but expand to include north side of Industry Avenue; for possible future expansion to include the Industrial Park. 2. Look into the possibility of establishing a tax increment district on the southwest corner of the intersection of Highway 47 and 167th Avenue N.W. where a strip oo~mercial center is proposed to be located. ,I
