Of this <br />group, the largest growth occurred in SIC category 35, which <br />includes the computer industry. <br /> <br />MANUFA~RING CHANGES/April 1983 <br /> <br />The growth rate of jobs in the manufacturing sector, 14 <br /> <br />percent from 1970 to 1980, was less than other sectors of the <br /> <br />economy and illustrates the changing nature of Twin Cities' <br /> <br />and the nation's employment trends. <br /> <br />Manufacturing's share of total employment dropped from <br /> <br />27 percent to 22 percent from 1960 to 1980, while the service <br /> <br />and financial industries' share increased from 21 to 28 <br /> <br />percent. <br /> <br /> <br />
