I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA A special meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held on Wednesday, June 19, 1985 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Acting Mayor Gary Re/mann Councilmember ArnieCox Councilmember A1 Sorteberg Also Present: City Administrator Lloy~ Schnelle Members Absent: Mayor Gary Heitman Councilmember Jean Schlueter C~ TO ORDER ,. Acting Mayor Re/mann called the special Council meeting to order at 4:42 p.m. and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. COUNCIL BUSINESS Case #1: Gambling License Application: Case Of Ramsey Lions: Councilmenber Cox noted that the cover letter calling for this special meeting states the date as 'Thursday, June 19, 1985'; it should have read 'Wednesday, June 19, 1985'~_this error may be the reason for two m~rs of Council not being present 'today. Councilm~nber Cox noted that this is not the first time an error like this has been made. Councilmember Cox stated that the Ramsey Lions are making application for a gambling license from the Minnesota State Charitable Gambling Control Board; the license is required for the raffle event to be held in oonjuction with the Community Festival being conducted to match the Lutheran Brotherhood donation for park develot~nent. The application to the State includes a 30 day waiting period to allow the City an opportunity to react to the application; the Lions are requesting that the City waive that 30 day waiting period as the festival is scheduled for July 12, 13 and 14. Council unanimously consented to dispense with the reading of the resolution. Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember COx to adopt Resolution #85-112 waiving the 30 day waiting period in conjunction with the Ramsey Lions' application for a charitable gambling license.
