Regarding May 31. 1985 <br /> Anoka County Union Article: <br /> <br />Committee noted City Staff's m~no dated June 14, 1985 regarding Ms. Schaffer's <br />response to article published in Anoka Union on May 31, 1985. <br /> <br />Case %8.- Discussion Regarding Proposal For Used Tire Collection Proaram: <br /> <br />Mr. Miller stated that Waste Management is looking into the possibility of <br />providing an open top dumpster for the collection of used tires; the plan will <br />not be put into place until after July 1, at which time the State's plan should <br /> <br />Mr. Fountain stated .that he recalls some p~.st discussions regarding a $1.00 fee <br />being ad~ed to the cost of new tires; that fee to be used to address disposing <br />of used tires. <br /> <br />Chairman LeLeux directed the Legislative Subcommittee to research whether or <br />not Legislature adopted that $1.00 fee being added to new tire cost and if so, <br />what those funds are being used <br /> <br />Discussion Regarding Letter From Economic Develo_rment Commission <br /> Regarding Use Of Landfill Trust Fund. Mohies: <br /> <br />Chairman LeLeux noted the EDC letter regarding businesses in the proximity of <br />landfill being concerned with property devaluation, contamination and <br />relocation expenses. Chairman LeLeux stated that the Consent Order should <br />address these concerns. <br /> <br />Mr. Miller stated that if it is determined that the problems were caused by the <br />landfill, the Consent Order will address them. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. DeLuca and seconded by Mr. Fountain that the Landfill Conm%ittee <br />understands thht the concerns 'of the Economic D~velo~ment Co~ssion are real <br />but that Con~ission's efforts would be more effective if directed towards State <br />Legislators by way of supporting the City's efforts to have the problens of <br />landfill hosting cozmunities addressed. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman LeLeux, (bmmit~ Members McCulley, <br />Pearson, DeLuca, Fountain and Wentura. Voting No: None.
