Mr. Ramon Burton <br />Pa ge Two <br /> <br /> Waste ~uantity <br /> <br />Sand Cores (Shell Material) Approximately 2,000 pounds per week <br />Sodium Hydroxide Sludge Approximately 75 gallons per month <br />Freon Sludge (trichlorotrifluoroethane} Approximately 55 gallons per two months <br />Waste Water Discharge to Sump and Drainfield Unknown <br /> <br />Based on the results of the inspection, Waltek, Incorporated is currently <br />classified as a hazardous waste generator. As a hazardous waste generator, the <br />company is subject to regulation under Minnesota Rules, Parts 7045.0205 to <br />7045.0304. The inspection revealed that Waltek, Incorporated is violating <br />numerous State hazardous waste regulations relating to hazardous waste manage- <br />ment including the accumulation and storage of approximately 40 55-gallon and <br />smaller metal drums which you indicated contained sodium hydroxide sludge. <br />These drums were rusty,in poor condition, and were stored open on wooden pallets <br />on an outdoor gravel based area. Also, another outdoor area contained approxi- <br />mately 36 55-gallon rusty metal drums which you indicated contained freon sludge <br />and were stored on wooden pallets in a grassy area. The freon sludge is a <br />listed hazardous waste (FO02) under the State hazardous waste rules. You also. <br />mentioned that some of these drums have been stored outdoors since 1979. <br /> <br />You also requested more information on the following items which were discussed <br />with MPCA staff. <br /> <br />1.
