I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I i I I I PRO(~EDINGS OF CITY ODUNCIL CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA GDUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey City Council conducted a special meeting on Tuesday, August 13, 1985 at the Ramsey Municipal (]enter, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Mayor Gary Heitman Councilmember Arnie Cox Councilmmber A1 Sorteber9 Councilmenber Jean Schlueter Councilm~nber Gary Reimann (arrived 8:20 p.m.) Also Present: City A~inistrator Lloyd Schnelle City Attorney Willimn Goodrich Reporter Angela Flint CALL TO ORDER Mayor Heitman called the special Council meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. CITIZEN INPUT Steve DeLuca - 7441 152nd Lane 5W - Made the following statement: "As a concerned citizen of the City of Ramsey, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the City Council for taking action at their July 9 meeting allcwing a Mr. James Gilbertson to be heard and have discussion regarding his request for liquor license renewal, and placing that discussion as an agenda ite~ that same evening. Having lived in Ramsey for seven years, I have noticed an exodus of the Ramsey business community. Dickenson's, Kovar Mfg., N & N Auto Body, Prestress Concrete and Renner Well are some of the businesses that have left or are leaving the community. I would also like to place my support of the City Council to use local business wherever possible to help those businesses stay in business; businesses which pay commercial taxes and help bring in the much needed tax revenue to our oo~munity. Again, I would like to thank the City Council and their efforts to keep a local business man in business and generating tax revenue and jobs in Ramsey." Steve DeLuca stated that he also has a letter from Mr. Ver-n Wentura, 15001 H~natite, to the City Council, which he would like to read at this time. "Frc~ a concerned resident, after being a resident for eight years in Ramsey, I have noticed the changes in City goverr~ent from concerned representatives to overstaffed City government, who are using the City Hall and eguil~nent for further betterment of th~nselves. ~he appearance is of the tail wagging the dog and I must say the tail is doing quite a job at the expense of the taxpayers. You have a city manager working with the staff to inplant their ideas at the expense of the taxpayers. I have observed prolonged meetings between people who want changes for th~nselves and others for their betterment August 13, 1985 Page 5 of 22
