Related to that 'is opening <br />school sessions prior to Labor Day; then they promote Minnesota as a <br />vacation spot. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sorteberg suggested an item for discussion: <br /> <br />Water shed issue -Water Resources Managment is requiring a water <br />shed study which will costs thousands and it will not solve Ramsey's <br />internal water problems and we don't ship water anywhere that is <br />doing anybody any harm. <br /> <br />b. Commission Status and Update - <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that he is interested in seeing from each of the City <br />commissions a statement describin9 the purpose of that commission; it may be <br />that the original purpose a commission is outdated or changed. ~he goals and <br />time frame to accomplish same should be outlined in a more structured manner. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox noted that there are 3 nmmbers of the Ramsey Jaycees in the <br />audience; thanked them for organizing a recent breakfast meeting and stated <br />that the Jaycees are doing in excellent job in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich stated that the commissions are supposed to submit annual reports <br />to the Council and be thinks that the Charter requires quarterly reports. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that there are persons serving on the commissions with <br />expertise and experience and that some up to date goals should be established <br />and begin to get things done rather than once a month ladies aid type <br />meetings. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that all the commissions serve a purpose and it has <br />always been a policy to put a sunset on temporary commissions. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman inquired as to EDC's purpose and goals and plans to accomplish <br />those goals. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox replied that EDC has very definite plans and goals; these <br />are people that are, on a part time basis, trying to provide for a greater tax <br />base within the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that he is not criticizing EDC, but maybe there is a way <br />to make the commission more useful. <br /> <br />Councilmember COx stated that EDC is currently working on a community <br />brochure; he stated that the members of that commission are not there to be <br />summarizing and satisfying, they are there to get a job done; Council should <br />be reading commission minutes and attending commission meetings occasionally. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman replied that peOple are taking the time to be involved and we <br />should use their experience to accomplish things in a more structured way. <br /> <br />c.
