A_qPoi~tment Of. _Councfl~mber To Serve _On Ramsev T~ndf]ll Board: Motion by Oouncilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Cox to appoint Mayor Heitman to serve on the Ramsey Landfill Board until December 31, 1985. For ~e"~r~s~ ~ A ~lic ~lf Council noted the proposed ordinance which provides for the oonveyance by the City of Ramsey to Ru~ River Hills, Inc. of Outlots A, B, D and E to be used for a public golf course. C. Eoonomic Develorm~nt Comission ~oal~ Statement: Council noted receiving m~m~o from Economic Develoi:ment Commission regarding their goal statement. Mayor Heitman stated that it is his hope that Council and the various oonmissions can work together towards a con, on goal; recommendations from these oon~issions are seriously considered but the Council needs to know whether or not the goals of the various con~issions correspond with the City's Comprehensive Plan. Mayor Heitman stated that the statement received from the Eoonomic Develol~,ent Conmission simply doesn't cover any of this. Mayor Heitman stated that he anticipates this to be a long term process but hopes significant progress can be made in less than a year. Councilmenber COx stated that he is not understanding what Mayor }{eitman is looking for. Mayor Heitman suggested that Counci~r Cox read the minutes. Councilmember Cox stated that reading the minutes and contacting commission members would bring Mayor Heitman up to date on the various con]missions. Councilmeaber COx stated that he doesn't know of any commission, other than one, that has not been working towards a eommon goal for the City. These co~nissions should be taken seriously. Mayor Heitman inquired if Councilmember COx is implying that he doesn't take the Con~nissions seriously and stated that it is obvious what he is requesting of the Commissions. Councilmember COx inquired in what way the Economic DeveloBment Commission goals stat~nent doesn't answer Mayor Heitman's request. Mayor Heitman replied that the Economic Commission statement is a paragraph, it doesn't say if the Commission goals correspond to the Comprehensive Plan. Mayor Heitman stated it is the responsibility of the Commissions to carry out goals that correspond to the Comprehensive Plan. Councilmenber COx stated that it is Council's responsibility to see that the February 12, 1985 Page 12 of 16
