Oouncilme~ber (Dx stated ,that in the interest of speeding up <br />the business of the (Duncil meeting, he will repeatedly agree to the <br />dispensing of resolution reading if the Mayor, former Charter (~ission <br />Chairman, will agree to initiate proceedings to have the Charter amended. <br />Councilm~r (Dx stated that if it was not intended that all resolutions must <br />be read, then that requirement should not have been in the f~arter. Mayor <br />Beitman inquired if (Duncilm~r (Dx would like the issue of resolution <br />reading added to the agenda or would he like to debate the issue now? <br />Councilm~r (Dx inquired as to where on the agenda this case would be <br />placed. Mayor Beitman stated that the issue of reading resolutions could be <br />discussed i~ediately after Approval of Agenda. <br /> <br />Councilm~r Schlueter mended her motion to approve the agepda by adding <br />'Discussion of Charter Requirement To Read Resolutions Prior To Adoption' <br />following Approval of Ager~a. (Duncilmer~er Reimann seconded the amer~ment to <br />the motion. Council proceeded to vote on the motion to approve the agenda and <br />the amendment to the ~otion. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Vot/ng Yes: Mayor Bei~an, (Duncilmenbers Sorteberg, (Dx, <br />Reimann and Schlueter. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />DISG3SSION OF ~R~R R~UIRF24ENT ~O READ RESOLUTIONS PRIOR ~I) ADOPTION: <br /> <br />Mayor Beitman asked Mr. Goodria if it is appropriate and legal for Council to <br />a~opt a blanket r~tion to dispense with the reading of all resolutions <br />proposed for adoption at the beginning of each Council meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich replied that a blanket motion to dispense with reading of <br />resolutions would be appropriate if the resolutions were introduced and <br />reviewed prior to the meeting.
