Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Council unanim~usly oonsented to dispense with the reading of the proposed <br />resolution. <br /> <br />Motion by Counctlmember Reimann and seconded by Mayor Beitman to adopt <br />Resolution ~B5-64 requesting that the ~etro Council call a moratorium on the <br />adoption of it's proposed Solid Waste Develoi~nent Guide/Policy Plan. (Please <br />refer to resolution file for Resolution ~85-64). <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hettman, Councilme~rs Cox, Sorteberg, <br />Reimann and Schlueter. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Beitman inquired as to oosts for compensation coverage for <br />councilmembers and volunteers injured while attending to City business. <br /> <br />! <br />! <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that he cannot recall the costs. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilm~r Cox and seconded by Councilmember Reimann to table <br />discussion of workers' compensation for councilm~bers and City volunteers <br />until the next regular Council meeting, at which tin~ cost figures should be <br />available. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Mayor Beitman stated that this leaves him in an <br />unfortunate situation. Be was injured on City business, was assured by City <br />Staff that he was covered by City insurance plan and proceeded to seek medical <br />attention at a facility not approved by his personal insurance company. Mayor <br />Beitman continued in saying that now the medical bills are ooming in; he is, <br />in fact, not covered by City insurance plan; a workers' oompensation plan for <br />couneiln~mbers and City volunteers would cost the City $300/year and the <br />insurance oompany is willing to make it retroactive to cover his recent <br />accident. Mayor ~eitman added that he will live with Council's decision. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that the resolution can be amended to authorize coverage <br />for councilm~nbers only and coverage for oommission members and City <br />volunteers can be discussed at a~other Council meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that 4 days prior to Mayor Beitman accompanying City <br />Accountant Baapala to New York for a City bond rating upgrade, he informed Mr. <br />Schnelle that he was opposed to any member of Council attendin9 the meeting <br />with Moody's; the Council motion approved of one City person attending the <br />meeting, not two.
