May 14, 1985 <br /> <br />TO: Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission <br /> <br />FROM: Planning Subcommittee of Economic Develol~nent Commission <br /> <br />RE: Commercial and Industrial Develounent in the City <br /> <br />The Planning Subcommittee of the Eooncmic Develoi=nent Commission <br />met on Tuesday, May 14, 1985 to discuss the following issues. <br />Members present were: Glen Hardin, Bill Miller, and Ken Wagner. <br /> <br />Prioritize areas the EDC would like targeted for development. <br />1. The number one priority area to enoourage develot~nent is <br /> the southeast corner of the industrial area (that area <br /> east of Sunfish Lake Boulevard and south of Industry <br /> Avenue). <br />2. Subsequent develoI~nent of industrial land should be en- <br /> oouraged between Sunfish Lake Boulevard and Ramsey Boule- <br /> vard. <br />3. Development of the commercial/industrial areas along <br /> Highway 10. <br />4. Develot~nent of commercial/retail along Highway 47. <br /> <br />Future utility needs in each area. <br />1. Sewer and water should be installed in southeast indus- <br /> trial area of City as soon as possible. <br />2. Municipal utilities should be extended along Industry <br /> Avenue to serve Industrial Park. <br />3. Municipal utilities should be available to those <br /> commercial and industrial properties along Highway 10 <br /> with the City's 1990 Urban Area. <br /> <br />Possible tax increment financing districts. <br />1. Include 1990 Urban Area, but expand to include north side <br /> of Industry Avenue; for possible future expansion to <br /> include the Industrial Park. <br />2. Look into the possibility of establishing a tax increment <br /> district on the southwest corner of the intersection of <br /> Highway 47 and 167th Avenue N.W. where a strip commercial <br /> center is proposed to be located. <br /> <br /> <br />
