PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA CDUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA A special meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held on Wednesday, June 19, 1985 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Me, rs Present: Acting Mayor Gary Reimann Councilmenber Arnie COx Councilm~mber A1 Sorteberg Also Present: City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle Members Absent: Mayor Gary Heitman Councilm~mber Jean Schlueter CALL TO ORDER Acting Mayor Reimann called the special Council meeting to order at 4:42 p.m. and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. COUNCIL BUSINESS Gambling License _Application: Case Of Ramsey Lions: Councilm~mber Cox noted that the oover letter calling for this special meeting states the date as 'Tnursday, June 19, 1985'; it should have read 'Wednesday, June 19, 1985'; this error may be the reason for two m~mbers of Council not being present today. Councilmamber Cox noted that this is not the first time an error like this has been made. Councilmember (]ox stated that the Ramsey Lions are making application for a gambling license from the Minnesota State Charitable Gambling Control Board; the license is required for the raffle event to be held in conjuction with the ~unity Festival being conducted to match the Lutheran Brotherhood donation for park develol~aent. The application to the State includes a 30 day waiting period to allow the City an opportunity to react to the application; the Lions are requesting that the City waive that 30 day waiting period as the festival is scheduled for July 12, 13 and 14. Council unanimously consented to dispense with the reading of the resolution. Motion by Gouncilmember Sorteberg and seconded by CouncilOr COx to adopt Resolution #85-112 waiving the 30 day waiting period in conjunction with the Ramsey Lions' application for a charitable gambling license.
