Wetland types 1, 2 and 6 and wetlands as small as one acre are recognized as having importance as storm sewer ponding basins, but the DNR does not presently require permits for alteration of these areas. In l~amsey, there is an abundance of wetlands, some found along the edges of the streams and rivers and the ohers in upland depressional areas. The wetlands are not concentrated in one area, but rather scatered throughout the community. All Type 3, 4 and 5 wetlands of 2.5 acres or more have been mappd by the DNR and shall be identified on the offical zoning map referenced in Section 170.012B of this chapter. Shoreland Overlay District: In order to guide the wise development and utilization of shorelands of protected waters for the preservation of water quality, natural characteristics, economic values and the general health, safety and welfare, certain protected waters in the City have been given a shoreland management classification.
