City Administrator

Director of Technical Services

Monthly Report

February 5, 1985

Building was qu~te slow for the month with only one new housing start.
However, it appears that it will probably be a busy year not only with housing,
but with co~mercial building as well. As you may or may not be aware, Mr. Curt
Ktm~ula is oonsidering a new recreational center, Mr. Bob Muller is working on
his plans for a 40,000 square foot shopping oenter, a Food and Fuel is proposed
in River's Bend, and someone called wanting to know the required parking spaces
for 15,000 square feet of retail. However, that person did not indicate what
or where be was proposeding.

I attended a watershed meeting in St. Paul with City Engineer Raatikka, and
found that the parties involved - Anoka, Andover, Burns and Ramsey - are unable
to come to an agreement as to how to fund the required study. If the respec-
tive communities opt to do nothing, then the County will have the study done
and apportion the oosts as they see fit. Presently, all the methods of funding
result in approximately the same costs for us. The real problems are with
Burns and Anoka. Anoka says that they don't need it and Burns says that they
can't afford it. ~he City of Ramsey should be concerned, as the Township of
Burns does have quite a bit of area that drains t~ards Ramsey.

~he last segment of the trunk sewer is presently being installed, and the final
connection should be mede in early February. ~e tank and roof have been set
at the pu~pbouse, so the contractor may now proceed with interior completion.

I have been advised by the developers that six more models will be started
shortly in River's Bend. ~ere have also been several inquiries from individ-
uals who expressed interest in locating in ~the project. ·

We have also been working with Mr. Norm Holm on the P.U.D. of Flintwood Hills
Second Addition, and that will, in all likelihood, proceed in I~ases beginning
this spring.

Inasmuch as there was only one permit for the month, I will include it in
February's report.

Mileage - 710
CRB:pjc
