HAAS <br /> ~.ounl¥ Board o! £ommi~ion',rs <br /> <br /> The Honorable Gary Heitman <br />I Mayor, City of Ramsey <br /> 16~c)0 Uranium Street N.W. <br /> Anoka, Minnesota 55303 <br />I Dear Mayor Heitman: <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br /> <br />On December 13, 1~)83 the Anoko County Board of Commissioners passed <br />Resolution //83-115 (attached) establishing the Anoka County Tronsportation <br />Advisory Committee. The charge to the Committee was to: <br /> <br />Identify existing transportation resources for older adults and <br />handicapped individuals and to determine those creas of Anoka County <br />where such resources are most needed. <br /> <br />Assist Anoka County in determining the most appropriate strategies and <br />means for developing economical, effective and accessible <br />transportation systems for older adults and handicapped individuals <br />which will allow them to maintain a maximum level of independent <br />living. <br /> <br />Establish working relationships with transportation providers, concerned <br />organizations and consumer groups m order to better coordinate <br />services and maximize the availability of transportation resources <br />throughout the County. <br /> <br />As o result of the Committee's recommendation, Anoka County is proceeding <br />to develop a transportation coordination program which is designed to: <br /> <br />expand the availability of transportation services for elderly and elderly <br />handicapped residents in Anoka County; and <br /> <br />promote the coordination of transportation services through efficient <br />and effective delivery methods to elderly and elderly handicapped <br />residents of Anoka County. <br /> <br />In an effort to begin addressing the general transportation needs of all Anoka <br />County residents, the County Board of Commissioners passed Resolution tt8h- <br />!17 (attached) on December 18, 198h expanding the scope of the <br />Transportation Advisory Committee to identify transportation needs of and <br />resources for the general populace of Anoka County. <br /> <br /> <br />
