TO: City Administrator
FROM: Director of Technical Services
RE: Monthly Building Report
DATE: March 4, 1985

There were six new housing starts for February, which is considerably better
than past Februarys. Two of the six were in the plat of River's Bend with
the other four scattered throughout the City.

The pump house is proceedin~ quite well and it is expected to go into service
in early March. This will fit well with the first occupancy which is scheduled
for the end of March.

The owners and occupants of a house on Bowers Drive NW were notified of
the failure of an on-site septic system. They had it pumped and there has
not been noticeable reoccurence of unauthorized discharge. They
any
any
have, however, been advised that it shall be necessary to upgrade the system
when weather conditions permit.

I attended a meetin§ with the American Society of Sanitary Engineering on
Thursday evening, February ZS, 1985. The topic of discussion was plastic piping
for domestic water. Plastic has been acceptable for several years for waste
and vent, but prior to January 15, 1985 was only acceptable for water in mobile
homes and recreational vehicles. With the ease of installation and new
technology in fittings, this will have a considerable impact on the plumbing
industry.
